Job Details

Location: Burgh Primary School.

Hours: 35 hours per week.

Salary: Head Teacher 7, £78,435 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the affairs of the school for the benefit of pupils and the wider community, complying with statutory requirements and the general duty of care toward staff and pupils.
  • Formulate clear aims for the school and develop policies to achieve them within the framework of the Council’s policies.
  • Ensure communication of aims and policies to all staff, pupils, parents and other users of the school.
  • Act on behalf of the Council as the principal professional adviser to the Parent Council, a separately constituted group supporting parental engagement and family learning, in accordance with the Parental Involvement Act 2006.
  • Provide leadership in line with the Council’s priorities for education and the drivers of change in the National Improvement Framework.
  • Study for and obtain the Standard for Headship, as determined by the GTC and in accordance with The Head Teachers Education and Training Standards (Scotland) Regulations 2019, within 30 months of appointment. Failure to achieve this within the designated period may lead to termination of employment.
  • Assist the recruitment team with recruitment checks when required and ensure timely completion of checks to avoid automatic withdrawal from the position.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Holding the Standard for Headship, as required by GTC Scotland regulations from 1 August 2020.
  • Registered with the General Teaching Council (Scotland).
  • Successful completion of the Standard for Headship within 30 months of appointment.
  • Participation in the PVG Scheme or completion of a PVG Scheme Update check prior to formal offer of employment.
  • For applicants born outside the UK or who have lived or worked abroad for a continuous period of three months in the past 10 years, an Overseas Criminal Records Check that is translated into English and includes an official statement confirming no criminal history or pending proceedings.
