About the Role

Compass Community School Mountfields Park is a specialist independent school supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many pupils also have additional SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
Overview
We are seeking a passionate, flexible, and resilient teacher who believes in putting children first. At Mountfields Park, we are teachers of children before subjects, building positive relationships and creating safe, engaging learning environments where every pupil can succeed.
Role Description
The successful candidate will teach their specialist subject alongside a second subject area and support pupils using a trauma‑informed approach. Our curriculum includes GCSEs, Functional Skills, BTECs, and The King’s Trust Achieve Programme, helping students develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and creative lessons up to GCSE or vocational level.
- Support pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Adapt learning to meet individual needs while maintaining high expectations.
- Contribute to extracurricular opportunities and wider school life.
The Right Person
We welcome applications from a range of subject specialisms, particularly those with experience or interest in Art, PE, or Health & Social Care. However, personal qualities, values, and commitment to supporting young people are the most important factors.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- QTS or PGCES.
- Strong teaching and behaviour management skills.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or additional needs.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- A flexible, resilient, and child‑centred approach.
