Catering Supervisor Penrith Hospital

We are looking for a Catering Supervisor to work in the busy and friendly catering team at Penrith Hospital. Working hours are between 7.30 am and 6.30 pm, Monday to Sunday.

Main Duties

  • Responsible for day‑to‑day operation of the catering service within the café and wards.
  • Prepare food and work with the Community Catering Manager to devise menus.
  • Ensure food and hygiene standards are met, adhering to all Food Safety Regulations and legislation.
  • Follow HACCP and COSHH.
  • Report faults and hazards to the appropriate person.
  • Keep records for traceability.
  • Train staff and ensure mandatory training is complete.
  • Deal with any issues arising within the catering department.
  • Cash up at the end of the day.
  • Order food and work with the Community Catering Manager to devise menus.
  • Manage stock and order from approved suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Supervisory Qualification (ILM Level 3) or equivalent.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene.
  • Maths and English qualifications.
  • Level 3 Qualification in Food/Cooking.
  • Level 3 Food Safety.

Experience

  • Experience in a catering supervisory role.
  • Food ordering.
  • NHS experience.

Knowledge

  • Food Safety Regulations.
  • Equality issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task.

Personal Attributes

  • Flexibility in working hours.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Ability to deal with complaints or queries.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a DBS check. The cost of the DBS will be met by the successful candidate through salary deduction.
