Job Summary
We are looking for a strong, competent swimmer with an interest in exercise to support rehabilitation following injury. The candidate should be eager to gain valuable life skills, be enthusiastic, adaptable, and organised. Work patterns will include evenings and weekends.
Main Duties of the Job
Communicate effectively with all centre users and colleagues, be aware of potential problems and how to prevent accidents, and prepare activities for service users. Perform cleaning duties as part of the daily routine to maintain a customer‑focused environment.
Admin responsibilities include updating the referral spreadsheet and payment sheet; the successful candidate must have good knowledge of Excel and Word and an excellent telephone manner.
Pre-requisites
- Able to jump or dive into deep water.
- Able to swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds for assessment.
- Be able to swim 100 metres on the front and 100 metres on the back competently.
- Able to tread water for 30 seconds.
- Able to surface dive to the floor of the pool (deep end – usually 1.8‑3 m).
- Able to climb out of the pool unaided (without use of steps).
- Confident and not afraid of water, getting face wet or being submerged.
Qualifications and Experience
- Good level of knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Competent swimmer with an interest in sport and leisure.
- Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to handle pressured situations calmly.
- Experience of working with the general public.
- Experience in using Excel and Word.
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritise own workload and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
- Able to perform a range of physical techniques to safely remove a casualty from the hydrotherapy pool.
