Salary: £10,040.00 actual per annum, £25,100.00 per annum Full time equivalent
Must be fully flexible Monday to Friday and may include working on a Saturday or Sunday for events

The role
As our Retail Driver, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the whole team, who in turn support the whole charity. You will be helping us to deliver first‑class customer service and maintain shop standards ensuring consistently high standards in the services we offer being the face of our charity with the public.
The post holder will be a member of the driver team required to provide an efficient and reliable furniture/stock delivery/collection and transfer service to all retail outlets, the Hospice, Priestly Court and donors/customers in accordance with Katharine House and its associated partners policies and procedures.
This is a physically demanding position working across busy charity retail superstores, which will include lifting and carrying bags, boxes and items of furniture on a daily basis.

- experience or an interest in retail/logistics
- a positive ‘can do’ attitude
- the ability to multi‑task
- good geographical knowledge of work area
- over 25 years old with full driving licence (no more than 6 points) – for insurance purposes

Retail Driver
Mission
“We help local adults with complex, progressive illnesses from diagnosis to the end of life through free, high‑quality, specialist palliative care, advice and guidance, and we support those close to them.”
Purpose and impact
Katharine House Hospice provides all its services free of charge to patients and their families and in order to do this, funds need to be raised. The Retail Department plays a key role in support of this by the income it raises through the sale of donated items and other merchandising.
Part of the team

Core Responsibilities
Overall Objectives
- The transport system operates in the most efficient and cost‑effective way.
- The highest standards of professional and courteous customer service at all times.
- Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
Key Specific Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ensure vehicles are roadworthy/clean and faults are promptly reported
- Ensure efficient and timely collection/delivery of goods as required in the daily work schedule
- Work as a team with co‑driver and wider team as required
- Maximise gift aiding of donated goods ensuring compliance to procedure
- Encourage members of the public to support shops by donating goods to sell
- Ensure customer/staff complaints/comments are promptly reported
- Maintain regular contact with Shop Base/Transport Office
Appearance
- Maintain a good standard of visual presentation. Wear Katharine House uniform as required.
Health and Safety/Security
- Comply with current H&S Legislation and Katharine House H&S Policy and Procedures
- Observe safe driving standards/wearing of seat belts and correct use of equipment
- Promptly report accidents/incidents
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment at all required times
- Ensure vehicles are clean inside and out and maintenance and H&S issues are promptly reported
- Adhere to driver policy guidelines
- Ensure vehicles are secure whenever left unattended
Administration
- Ensure all administration tasks requested by Line Management are completed on time
Other Tasks and Responsibilities
- Attend training courses as required
- Undertake any reasonable requests in the interests of the continued success of Katharine House Retail
- Don’t do anything to bring the name of Katharine House Hospice into disrepute
- Develop and maintain geographical knowledge of Staffordshire
- Transfer stock and furniture to different stores/designated locations
- Undertake House Clearances
Qualifications/Experience
- Driving licence with no more than 6 points
- Experience in at least one of the following areas essential: retail, wholesale, warehousing
- Available to work flexible hours to meet the demands of the business
- Physical ability to regularly lift heavy goods, such as heavy furniture, with assistance.
