Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £14.18 an hour; this increases to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with options for fewer hours (minimum 12).

The availability windows above indicate when you should be available to work. We schedule your contracted hours within these times and give you 3 weeks’ notice of when your shifts will be. If your availability matches closely but not exactly, we still consider your application.

As the face of Tesco on the road, you deliver from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. Your day will involve meeting and talking to customers in their homes. This role is much more than driving—it’s about helping others and delivering great service with a smile.

It is hands‑on, physical and full of variety. No two shifts are ever the same, and customers need help in many ways. You’ll experience many responsibilities and have a team of managers and colleagues at base to support you.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the van and trays are clean and tidy.
  • Keep the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish, picking up any litter.
  • Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
  • Load the van as required and check roadworthiness.
  • Discuss any order changes or substitutions with the customer; offer refunds for dissatisfaction.
  • Handle products and deliveries with care.
  • Explain to the customer that additional substitutions are free.
  • Deliver within the customer’s time slot.
  • Call the customer before arrival if early.
  • Call the store if 30+ minutes late.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit, ensuring the store is best for customers.
  • Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues, find time to thank them.
  • Respond quickly to changing needs, embracing change in your store.
  • Be energetic and driven, integrating home and work to achieve balance.
  • Share ideas with your manager and colleagues on how to improve service.
  • A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic only) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
