Axcis Education is seeking a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Bedminster, Bristol for the full academic year starting in September. This rewarding role focuses on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them feel safe, supported and fully engaged in school life.
About the Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
- Use behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies to support emotional regulation.
- Work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to maintain a structured and nurturing environment.
- Encourage pupils to engage positively with learning and develop healthy relationships.
- Promote independence, resilience and self‑confidence.
Ideal Candidate
- Has experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural needs or SEND (highly desirable).
- Remains calm, patient and proactive in challenging situations.
- Has strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- Works effectively as part of a team and prioritises safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
- Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
