Early Years Kitchen Assistant – Bright Horizons West Norwood Day Nursery and Preschool.
Salary – From £14.15 per hour (dependent on qualifications and experience).
Location – West Dulwich, London.
This is a part‑time position working Monday‑Friday, 9:30‑15:30.

Role
As an Early Years Kitchen Assistant, you will support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of age‑appropriate food for all the children in the nursery, keeping minimum wastage and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. In the absence of the Chef, you will take responsibility for the running of the kitchen, ensuring dietary requirements are met and communicated to the team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in meal preparation and cooking for nursery children.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen.
- Support dietary needs and communicate requirements to staff.
- Take over kitchen operations when the Chef is absent.
Qualifications
- Experience in a cooking role, domestic or commercial.
- Passion for nutrition and healthy eating promotion.
- Sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements, including food allergies.
- Food Safety certification – CIEH L2 or above, or equivalent, to be passed on day1.
- Knowledge of COSHH.
- Excellent communication skills with colleagues, children, and parents.
- Ability to work under pressure.
