Temporary/Relief Support Worker – Aberdare Area – (Long day shifts)

Overview

Vetro is urgently seeking compassionate, reliable, and adaptable Relief/Temporary Support Workers to join our team in the Aberdare Area.

This role offers flexibility, variety, and competitive hourly pay of £14.24 (inclusive of holiday pay) with an immediate start, allowing you to work on your own terms.

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people in day‑to‑day activities and interests.
• Use restraint training to ensure safety or be willing to undergo training.
• Promote young people’s independence and well‑being.
• Attend weekends away, holidays and trips with the children.
• Participate in weekend and evening activities such as climbing, baking cakes, or vacations at Butlins.
• Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
• Provide emotional and practical support to the young people within your home.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of care plans and guidelines to ensure safety.
• Support children in managing challenging behaviour and minimise incidents.

Qualifications

• Ability to engage and build strong relationships with young people.
• Understanding of trauma and its impact, including homelessness and domestic abuse.
• Forward‑thinking crisis response attitude.
• Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature.
• At least 6 months of experience working with children or in a similar social care setting.
• TMVA – Restraint Training Certificate.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Current Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
