Customs Clerk

Salary: GBP30000 – GBP35000 per annum

Salary: Up to £35,000 (DOE)Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:30Type: Full-time, Permanent (Hybrid after probation – 3 office / 2 home)

We’re recruiting a Customs Clearance Operator to join one of our clients based out of Burntwood. This is a great opportunity for someone with customs knowledge looking to develop their career in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process import and export customs clearances across air, sea and road freight
• Complete and submit declarations accurately and within required timeframes
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth shipment processing
• Check and manage all required customs documentation, resolving any issues
• Calculate duties and taxes and ensure timely clearance of shipments
• Provide regular updates and excellent service to customers
• Manage shared inbox enquiries efficiently as part of the team

Requirements

• Previous experience in customs clearance (imports/exports) for a UK based freight forwarder
• Good understanding of UK/EU customs procedures and documentation
• Familiarity with systems such as CDS, NCTS or Destin8 is advantageous
• Knowledge of Incoterms and the freight industry
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
