Cleansing Operative Driver

Job Summary

Full‑time, permanent position (37 hours per week) with Cleansing Services in Leicester. The role involves maintaining clean and safe streets and supporting various street‑cleaning operations across the city.

Responsibilities

• Remove litter, leaves, detritus, illegal dumping, dog fouling, graffiti, street wash and empty litter bins in designated areas.
• Support snow clearance during winter months.
• Maintain health and safety standards while working on the streets.
• Report environmental hazards such as hypodermic needles, asbestos and hazardous waste to the team leader.

Requirements

• Full category B driving licence.
• Physical fitness to walk approximately 10 miles a day and perform continuous manual work.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to respond politely to the public.
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm for keeping streets clean.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and on a rota basis between 5:15 am and 8:30 pm, Monday to Saturday.
• Provision of necessary equipment and uniform will be supplied.

Salary & Package

Annual salary: £25,583–£25,989. Total benefit value (including pension contribution and full holiday entitlement): £35,437.77.

Contractual Hours

37 hours per week, full-time.
