Job Overview
This is a part‑time Ward Clerk position (27.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9am–3pm) at Rhodes Wood Hospital, a specialist inpatient eating disorder service. The role supports the multidisciplinary team by providing day‑to‑day administrative support for the wards
Job Responsibilities
- Update service users’ information, manage the ward diary and timetables, and take minutes.
- Arrange meetings, type up correspondence and documentation, and support the admin team with clerical and typing duties.
- Use information technology to produce documents and electronic records, including managing data in database and rostering applications.
- Maintain and update filing and record‑keeping systems, primary nurse lists, ward posters, and other administrative materials.
- Answer and direct calls as required; assist wards with stationery, recording medical appointments, and liaising to keep the Shared Calendar up to date.
- Communicate with service users and staff, gather information as needed, and exercise judgment to maintain accurate administrative records.
- Respond to occasional challenging situations with professionalism and discretion.
Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptable and open to changes in service provision.
- Ability to prioritise work within established procedures and to refer more complex issues to the relevant manager.
- Experience with database applications and electronic rostering systems is beneficial.
Location
Shepherds Way, Brookmans Park, Hatfield, AL9 6NN – Rhodes Wood Hospital, which delivers specialist inpatient eating disorder care to children and young people aged 12 to 18.
