Role Summary

Barrow Operative – B Shift (Assortments)

Salary: £31,021.68 per annum

Location & Working Hours

Location: Carlisle, 54 Church Street, Cumbria, CA2 5TG

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 6am – 2pm and 2pm – 10pm (alternate weeks)

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the production line is fully stocked and operating smoothly, communicating with the Supervisor.
• Operate electric hand barrows in designated areas and move lines across the factory as required.
• Manage stock sheets (assortments only), keep the line stocked and report out‑of‑date items to the Manager.
• Order packaging requests, use Autostore, barcoding, and control waste and packaging removal.
• Document all data on Shop Floor Online, support line operators during change‑overs, and assist with packing when needed.
• Collaborate with key operators and Supervisor to resolve issues and meet the production plan, ensuring customer supply.
• Support daily planning to maintain adequate packaging for each SKU.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Basic numerical and literacy knowledge.
• Manual dexterity, good logistic skills, quick reaction, and good communication.
• Problem recognition, diligence, detail consciousness, and excellent teamwork skills.
• Positive attitude, ability to multitask, initiative, and tenacity.
• Willingness to work in a team environment, flexible, and willingness to drive operational change.
• Good attendance record.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or similar environment, knowledge of HACCP and safe systems of work, and understanding of zonal KPIs is desirable.
