Salary and Benefits
Pay rate: £28,598 Band 5 (pro‑ratable for part‑time colleagues) plus £100 per month Recruitment & Retention payment. There is also the option to increase income by joining our Out of Hours rota.
Role Overview
BCP (Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole) Council’s Highway Delivery Team is looking for Skilled Highway Operatives to deliver routine maintenance, construction schemes, traffic management, winter service provision and more.
Key Responsibilities
As a Skilled Highway Operative you will:
- Carry out highway maintenance – patching, remedial repairs
- Participate in highway construction and resurfacing projects, both small and major improvement schemes across the network
- Deploy and manage traffic management on rural and urban roads, including high‑speed networks
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in highways maintenance – patching, remedial repairs
- Experience in highways construction/resurfacing – small and major improvement schemes
- Experience deploying traffic management on rural and urban roads, including high‑speed networks
- Class C1 or Class C driver’s licence
- Ability to remain calm and polite when engaging with members of the public
Working Locations
Successful candidates will operate from either Hatch Pond Road Depot in Poole or Southcote Road Depot in Bournemouth.
