Purpose of the role
Colas are looking for 2 Zonal Response Team (ZRT) Operatives to work either day or night shift at our Doxey depot, ST18 9LG. Operatives will follow instructions from the dispatcher in the Regional Operational Centre and from their supervisors, ensuring works orders are carried out on time and to required levels of quality. They will work safely at all times, comply with site rules and permitting regulations, and represent Colas in a professional manner.
Location & Shift Details
Staffordshire – 1 x Night Shift and 1 x Day Shift; hour pay £12.71–14.60 (dependent on experience and licences).
Working hours: 42‑hour week, 4 on 4 off shift – monthly paid. Additional rates for overtime and shift patterns. 20.5 days annual leave per year inclusive of bank holidays.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out temporary highway repairs safely.
- Install and remove traffic management equipment.
- Operate machinery and equipment.
- Follow COSHH and HAVS safety procedures.
- Drive in line with Road Traffic Act regulations.
- Work 4 days on / 4 days off (days, nights & bank holidays).
- Ensure all operations within our area of responsibility are undertaken with full regard for the safety of visitors, other members of staff and themselves.
- Ensure all activities are undertaken with due regard for the environment, prevent pollution, comply with legal and corporate requirements, and minimise environmental impact.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in highways maintenance or a similar environment.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- HGV Class 2 licence required unless they come from a strong traffic management work background.
- C1E driving experience desirable.
- Traffic management experience beneficial.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- DCPC and TTMBC qualifications desirable.
