About the Learning Support Department

The Learning Support Department at NHEHS plays an important part in supporting students with learning differences. With a deep understanding of learning differences, multiple intelligences, neuroscience and executive functions, the department scaffolds academic work, prepares students for independent study and helps them achieve high academic standards.

  • Support students in developing executive function skills and effective independent study techniques.
  • Assess, monitor and tailor provision in partnership with pupils, parents, teachers, external agencies, specialists and external assessors.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Inclusion, part‑time Learning Support Teacher/EAL Coordinator and Learning Support Assistant.
  • Maintain a warm, inclusive, and professional approach to student support.
  • Apply safeguarding and child protection protocols; apply for child protection checks and DBS as required.
