Job Overview

School Governing Body Advisor (Term‑time)

Part‑time, permanent, 18 hours per week on a term‑time only basis covering Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancashire.

Responsibilities

  • Support and advise Volunteer Governors in the Education Sector.
  • Assist Governors in fulfilling their statutory functions relating to vision, ethos, strategic direction, educational, staff and financial performance.
  • Arrange, attend, advise on and minute Governing Body meetings in liaison with the Headteacher and Chair of Governors.
  • Provide professional, confidential advice and guidance as required.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Pupil Access and other departments to deliver advisory duties efficiently.
  • Prepare accurate minutes for statements reviewed by Ofsted and in the public domain.
  • Manage strict deadlines and maintain accountability and compliance with statutory obligations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working with school governing bodies or the Education Sector (preferred).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a keen eye for detail in minute‑taking.
  • Self‑directed, highly organised, able to meet tight deadlines independently.
  • Ability to drive and provide own vehicle for duties, insured for business use (accommodation for drivers with disabilities).
  • Flexible to work from office, school or home as required.
  • Professional, warm, and discreet personality with collaborative ethos.
