LeominsterPrimary School is seeking to appoint a professional Safeguarding Lead (Deputy DesignatedSafeguarding Lead) to join our warm and friendly staff. This is a maternityleave contract starting in the Autumn term.

The role:

TheSafeguarding Lead will be responsible for the leadership and day-to-daymanagement of safeguarding, child protection, attendance and behaviour supportacross the school.

Thesuccessful candidate will work alongside our Student and Family Support Workerand Home-School Liaison Officer. Theperson will also work with the SEN team, staff, pupils and families to promotetheir welfare and develop pupils’ potential.The Safeguarding Lead will take the main responsibility for andmanagement of all safeguarding and child protection matters arising at theschool and to support all other staff in dealing with any child protectionconcerns that arise. The successfulcandidate will also take the lead with managing behaviour and attendance acrossthe school, and also provide formal supervision for line managed staff.

About you:

The successful candidate must have NVQ Level 4 (orequivalent) in a relevant subject eg safeguarding children and be able todemonstrate:

  • good literacy and numeracy skills inorder to communicate professionally to others and produce reports asnecessary;
  • an ability to lead on all childprotection issues within school;
  • a secure knowledge of complexsafeguarding, child protection issues and of child development;
  • an ability to work collaboratively withfamilies to provide positive outcomes for pupils;
  • an ability to lead staff trainingeffectively;
  • an ability to motivate, develop and leada team;
  • an ability to lead and promote strategiesto encourage positive attitudes and behaviour across the school;
  • anenthusiasm to work with children and help all pupils succeed;
  • firstclass communication skills, at all levels;
  • a professional and positivebehaviour;
