Job Description:

As an Events and Fundraising Volunteer, you will help the CFDN continue to provide social, emotional, and practical support to people with disabilities and their families. This role is pivotal in ensuring support for awareness and the financial longevity of the charity. You are essential in maintaining our near‑70‑year heritage whilst setting the foundations for future generations.

Essential Qualities And Experience

  • Experience in planning and delivering successful fundraising campaigns and/or event or the ability to learn.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, and local stakeholders.
  • Experience as a volunteer or working with volunteers or coordinating volunteer‑led initiatives.
  • Computer literate and confident using creative systems (Canva), digital platforms (Google Drive), and databases.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively with teams.
  • Have excellent English skills (written and verbal).
  • A genuine commitment to CFDN’s charitable objectives and a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those with disabilities.
  • Upholds the highest standards of integrity, honesty, and ethical conduct, serving as a role model for CFDN’s values.
  • Demonstrates the ability to think creatively and contribute to the overall success of CFDN’s mission.

Desirable Skills And Attributes

  • Experience in charity fundraising, community fundraising, or income generation roles.
  • Knowledge of charity governance and fundraising compliance (e.g., GDPR, Fundraising Regulator).
  • Experience within a disability or health‑related charity.
  • Experience with digital fundraising tools and platforms.
  • Grant writing or trust fundraising experience.
  • Experience of managing budgets, analysing data and producing reports on fundraising performance.

What will you be doing?

The CFDN is seeking friendly, reliable, and community‑minded individuals to join our charity. In this role and as a team you will be responsible for organising and running events and activities to increase the financial sustainability of the charity through proactive and forward‑thinking income generation. This includes supporting and leading on community fundraising initiatives, organising and delivering events, building donor and corporate relationships, and supporting the development of a volunteer fundraising team with support from the CEO and charity volunteer leads. The role is pivotal to ensuring CFDN meets its growing financial needs and can expand its outreach and support services to individuals with disabilities and their families.

This is a hybrid role; the successful candidate will be home‑based but will be expected to work in the community around 60-70% of the time, including attending events, meetings, and local engagements across East London and Essex.

This role is ideal for individuals who want to give back to their local community, meet new people, and support others in a practical and meaningful way.

Training and Support Provided

  • Welcome induction to the charity is provided
  • Statutory & Mandatory Training (e.g., Safeguarding, Health & Safety etc)
  • Ongoing guidance and support from Group Leads or managers
  • Reasonable out‑of‑pocket expenses reimbursed
  • Access to templates, digital tools, volunteer discounts, and promotional materials
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities

Additional Information

  • This role is flexible and can work around your availability
  • Volunteers must agree to uphold the charity’s values and policies
  • Uniform or branded items (e.g., lanyards, t-shirts) may be provided for event use dependent on role.
  • You may be invited to recognition events, awards and supporter gatherings
