School Catering Assistant (Start June 1st)

Job Summary

Do you want to make a real difference in children’s lives through nutritious food? At Ripple Education, we’re proud to support schools across Northumberland and are looking for a catering assistant to join a school in the Haydon Bridge and Hexham area.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve food following agreed menus and accommodate any special dietary requirements.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the school kitchen, including equipment and surrounding areas.
• Set up and clear away after lunch, including washing up and cleaning tables.
• Comply with all food and Health and Safety standards and regulations.
• Take responsibility for maintaining and ordering stock, ensuring appropriate storage and labelling procedures are followed.

Minimum Essential Requirements

• Right to work in the UK
• Minimum of 2 references
• Enhanced DBS clearance

Experience / Qualifications

• Basic food hygiene certificate
• Experience of working in a school kitchen or a similar environment

Work‑Related Circumstances

• Ability to work flexibly
• Participation in training
• Commitment to ensuring a safe environment for children and thorough knowledge of safeguarding procedures
