Overview
Join us for an extraordinary journey through Africa’s landscapes as you develop your photography and filmmaking skills with our expert team. This comprehensive course combines the Environmental and Media program with Wildlife Filmmaking to explore diverse platforms and capture Africa’s wildlife and travel scenery.
You’ll work with an environmental and media company that raises awareness of African environmental issues, engaging with clients such as broadcasters, corporations, NGOs, and media outlets. You will gain practical experience in land-based and underwater photography, building a versatile portfolio of authentic work. Our professional photographers guide you through the Garden Route, helping you produce stunning photographs of Africa’s wildlife and scenery. There may also be opportunities to participate in client-based shoots for marketing materials on advertising and social media campaigns.
In addition to photography, the course includes training in setting up your own business, ensuring financial stability, writing business plans, and effective marketing strategies. Our hands-on approach features close collaboration with experienced trainers throughout the process. For wildlife filmmaking enthusiasts, the course offers the opportunity to develop, film, and edit your own wildlife documentary in an African game reserve, gaining skills in camera operation, directing, producing, scriptwriting, and broadcasting.
The combined photography and filmmaking adventure runs over 1 month, with the first and last weeks focused on pre-production and post-production work. The remaining 9 days are spent living on a reserve and filming your wildlife documentary. This is a unique opportunity to unleash your creativity and experience Africa’s wildlife through the lens of a camera.
