The Role of the Principal Quantity Surveyor Devon

This is a pivotal appointment for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor or Cost Consultant ready to step into a Principal-level role. You will balance hands‑on project delivery with the leadership responsibilities required to nurture a growing team.

Strategic Growth: Play a key role in the regional development of the practice.

Team Leadership: Utilize your experience to recruit, mentor, and manage junior members of the cost consultancy team.

Project Delivery: Provide expert commercial management across a diverse portfolio, including healthcare, public sector, and large‑scale infrastructure projects.

Autonomy: Enjoy the independence to manage your own project portfolio while benefiting from the support of a highly reputable national network.

Candidate Requirements

We are seeking an ambitious professional who combines technical expertise with the leadership skills to drive a team forward.

Education: A Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or an RICS‑accredited equivalent.

Background: Proven experience within a reputable UK Cost Consultancy or PQS firm.

Leadership: Demonstrable experience in managing and mentoring less senior staff members.

Professional Status: MRICS Chartered status is preferred; however, we will consider strong candidates currently working towards their APC who are within 12 months of qualifying.

Sector Experience: A background in Healthcare, Public Sector, Residential, Commercial, Defence, or Infrastructure projects.

Location: We are looking for candidates based in the Devon area or those with a genuine, long‑term commitment to relocating to the region.

Right to Work: Candidates must possess a valid right to live and work in the United Kingdom. Sponsorship is not available for this role.

Salary and Benefits

Our client offers a highly competitive remuneration package and invests heavily in their staff.

Basic Salary: 47,000 to 60,000 GBP per annum, depending on experience.
