Week 1
- Wednesday 5pm–10pm (enhanced rates after 8pm)
- Thursday 5pm–10pm (enhanced rates after 8pm)
- Friday 5pm–8:30pm (enhanced rates after 8pm)
- Saturday 6:30pm–10pm (shift incurs enhanced rates)
- Sunday 6:30pm–10pm (shift incurs enhanced rates)
Week 2
- Wednesday 5pm–10pm (enhanced rates after 8pm)
- Thursday 5pm–10pm (enhanced rates after 8pm)
- Friday 5pm–10pm (enhanced rates after 8pm)
Please note: These shifts will initially be based at Minor Injuries Unit (MIU), QMH on a temporary basis. From early 2027, the post holder will work primarily at VHK with occasional coverage at MIU, QMH.
Key Responsibilities
Work within the DHRS team, covering A&E at VHK and, occasionally, at MIU, QMH. Provide front‑line service to patients arriving at each department and record patient attendance and admissions via Trakcare. Demonstrate empathy towards anxious and upset patients and relatives, delivering professional customer service.
Administrative tasks include running reports, accurately updating data, scanning medical case notes/ED cards, and uploading them to the clinical portal. May receive training within NHS Fife Switchboard, handling calls, pager requests, emergency calls, monitoring alarms, and providing advice on telephony services.
Ad‑hoc duties may be requested by Health Records Supervisors to ensure efficiency across the 24/7 inpatient and emergency team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Standard Grade (or equivalent) education with passes in English and Arithmetic.
- Good keyboard/typing skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong organisational and listening skills with a flexible approach to work.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy essential for uploading data to a live clinical system.
- Relevant admin/clerical experience; ability to prioritise workload in a busy environment.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Legal & Compliance Requirements
- Member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme before appointment.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom – evidence required during pre‑employment checks.
- UK visa and immigration eligibility or sponsorship eligibility; ensure right to work before applying.
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata, with a corresponding increase in hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
