Job Description:

We’re looking for a Campsite Assistant to work at Great Langdale Campsite. This role is all about making sure that people have their best possible experience of an outdoor holiday with the National Trust. Internally, within the National Trust, you’ll be known as an ‘Outdoors Holidays Operations Assistant’.

Salary: £13.25 per hour

Contract Type: This is a zero‑hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. While we aim to provide a consistent work pattern, flexibility is needed as schedules may change based on business needs. We’ll try to give as much notice as possible. The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays, but does not require evening or split shifts.

Working Pattern: Although hours are not guaranteed, we expect to offer up to five shifts per week (37.5 hours total), with a mix of early and late shifts. The earliest start time is 7:00 am and the latest finish is 9:30 pm. Shift patterns will vary depending on business needs, and are likely to include weekends.

Contract Duration: Fixed term until 28th September 2026

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

You’ll help to keep the campsite and bunkhouse clean, well‑maintained and welcoming for all guests. This includes practical tasks like cleaning and basic maintenance, reporting any repairs needed and generally being a friendly contact for everyone staying here.

You’ll be greeting people, helping with their bookings and dealing helpfully with their enquiries or complaints. You’ll also help to run the campsite shop when needed. Everything you do day‑to‑day will make a big difference to someone’s holiday, and help to make things run smoothly and to the standard that guests expect from the National Trust.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don’t need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
