We’re looking for an Assistant Manager (Asphalt) to join our friendly team at our Halecombe Asphalt Plant in Frome. In this role, you’ll take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the plant, ensuring everything operates safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards. You’ll lead a team, manage budgets, and make sure our customers receive the high‑quality products and service they expect.

What you’ll be doing

  • Overseeing safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment
  • Driving a strong safety culture through toolbox talks and risk assessments, implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Systems of Work
  • Managing stock control, operational reporting, and budget performance
  • Coaching and developing a high‑performing team
  • Supporting commercial teams to deliver excellent customer service
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives and change projects

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in asphalt operations and plant management
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and environmental compliance
  • SHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6 and IOSH/NEBOSH qualifications desirable
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office
  • A proactive approach to leadership, with the ability to manage change and drive performance and continuous improvement
