About The Role

As an EHC Coordinator, you’ll manage and process EHC plans within a complex legal framework and tight statutory timescales. This is a highly process‑driven role, requiring meticulous attention to detail and strong case management skills. You’ll review documents, implement legal requirements, and create, amend and maintain plans that shape the support children receive. You’ll communicate regularly with practitioners, parents and carers, focusing on statutory processes and decision‑making rather than direct interaction with children or young people.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the highest standards of achievement and inclusion for children and young people with SEN through effective casework within the policy and budget framework of the Council, ensuring a focus on preparing for adulthood from the earliest ages.
  • Prepare information for parents, children, young people and schools, providing clear, timely information that engages partners in understanding their responsibilities.
  • Manage and process statutory casework within legal and internal timelines.
  • Work collaboratively with professionals across education, health and care services.
  • Ensure effective case management, integrated working practice and successful outcomes for children.
  • Participate in resource decisions, leading where appropriate, including assessment decisions, specialist provision and panel meeting chairing.
  • Represent Children’s Services at annual reviews, chair multi‑agency meetings and other meetings with professionals and parents/carers as required.
  • Contribute to the development of policy, procedures and provision for children with SEN, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation and departmental policies, and supporting induction, training and support for team members.
  • Input and maintain accurate database records and participate in the Local Authority’s monitoring and quality assurance systems.
