About the role

This role is a limited term appointment for 12 months and is not open to remote or hybrid working.

As a Band 7 Counsellor within Community Wellbeing Service, you will take full ownership of a diverse caseload of clients aged 18 and over. Working within a Step 2 therapy service, you will provide high‑intensity, short‑term, evidence‑based therapeutic interventions for individuals with mild‑to‑moderate mental health difficulties. You will carry out structured assessments to identify presenting needs, collaboratively agree therapeutic goals, and deliver interventions in line with recognised clinical models and best practice.

You will need a strong background of assessing clinical risk, including identifying when a client’s needs fall outside the scope of the service. You will use your professional judgment to make onward referrals and ensure individuals are signposted to the appropriate level of care in a timely manner. You will manage your caseload effectively while maintaining a focus on safe, responsive, and person‑centred care.

Beyond your own caseload, you will play an active role in shaping how the service works, supporting development and improvement, contributing to quality enhancement, service innovation and the embedding of evidence‑based practice across the team. You will guide others through clinical supervision, share specialist advice and commit to improving mental health support across the Island.
