Housing Supervisor – Managed Units

Location: Various Locations

Salary: £34,452 – £40,501

Hours: 36 per week

The City of Edinburgh Council operates 5 hostels across the city. Housing Supervisors provide a vital service in each project by directly supporting residents, many of whom have a history of trauma and/or complex emotional and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Concentrate on building positive and supportive relationships with residents and creating a sense of community.
  • Enable residents to maximise their own resources and ability to live independently so that they can successfully maintain a permanent tenancy when they leave the service.
  • Provide emotional resilience, understanding and commitment while supporting residents who display challenging behaviour.
  • Manage a team of unit wardens who work a 24‑hour shift pattern and are responsible for supporting residents during their day‑to‑day lives.
  • Support wardens in cleaning and preparing rooms/flats when residents move on.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals who have a history of trauma and complex emotional and mental health needs.
  • Experience in a regulated work setting with children and/or protected adults (Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007).
  • Willingness to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
  • Provision of an Overseas Criminal Record Check if the applicant has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years.
  • We welcome applications from individuals with lived experience of using homelessness or recovery services.

Additional Information

Our salary range reflects the initial starting salary and increases annually until it reaches the top of the range.
