Location
East Yorkshire. Please be willing to travel across the Yorkshire region as required.
Work Type
Permanent, full‑time (37 hours per week). Monday – Friday 08:00 – 16:00. Occasional out‑of‑hours or weekend work may be required.
About the Role
The role sits within the Distribution Maintenance Team, responsible for planned interventions, pipe flushing, and proactive maintenance on the water network. The team helps reduce water discolouration and meets performance commitments.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned flushing and sampling, deploy data loggers.
- Execute and record all planned flushing activity, determining flow and duration to achieve optimal performance and risk mitigation.
- Amend schematic/timetable when unforeseen issues arise (e.g., inoperable assets on the network).
- Capture data to calculate depth of sediment material removed per flush.
- Undertake risk assessments for cyclical flushing activities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
- Strong health and safety awareness and compliance.
- Numerical competence.
- Pragmatic approach and ability to amend planned activities at short notice.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of the key mechanisms of discolouration on the water network and water hygiene accreditation or Calm network training (full training will be provided).
- Understanding of the design and operation principles of potable water distribution network assets.
- Understanding of water hydraulic operating principles.
- Application of water hygiene principles at all times.
