Support Worker – Irvine

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and flexible Support Worker to support a man in his 30s who enjoys gardening, keeping fit, socialising, and being part of his local community. He likes to be in control of his own life and choices and is looking for someone who can provide guidance and encouragement while respecting his independence. He enjoys getting out and about, meeting people, trying new experiences, and developing friendships within his community.
Responsibilities
- Support the client with daily living, social activities, community involvement, and maintaining both mental and physical wellbeing.
- Encourage balanced decision‑making, help him stay safe at home and in the community.
- Observe and support when additional help or mental health support may be needed.
- Assist the client to access local groups, activities, community resources, and organized recreational and social opportunities, including support to go out socially on Saturday nights.
- Manage practical day‑to‑day tasks, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and help cope with feelings and stressful situations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Flexible, trustworthy, dependable with a calm and common‑sense approach.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, communicate and listen well, and work positively as part of a team.
- Respectful, non‑judgmental, maintain confidentiality, comfortable taking direction, and reflective and thoughtful.
- Positive outlook, willingness to learn new skills, respect for rights, choices, and individuality of the person being supported.
- Experience in support work helpful but not essential.
- Successful reference and PVG checks required. Two up to date reference contacts required, one from a present or previous employer, and a new enhanced PVG disclosure before appointment.
Additional Information
Probationary period of 6 months. Either party may end the employment during probation by giving one week’s notice.
