Science Academic Mentor

About the Position

Permanent contract role as a Science Academic Mentor at a Grade 1 Ofsted 11‑18 school in Central London. Pay: £21,963 – £28,996 (term‑time only).

Responsibilities

• Working with school staff to select students for mentoring.
• Discussing the aims of mentoring with pupils.
• Supporting pupils inside and outside the classroom.
• Agreeing and writing action plans.
• Occasionally making home visits to speak with parents and offer advice on strategies.
• Liaising with schools, teachers, social workers and educational psychologists, and making referrals where appropriate.
• Aiding pupils with transition to secondary education.
• Helping pupils increase confidence and self‑esteem by listening and devising appropriate strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

Undergraduate degree in Science or a related subject area (e.g. Literacy) is required. Applicants should be graduates interested in a teacher training programme for September 2027 or who are passionate about working with young people. Prior mentoring or tutoring experience at university is desirable.
