Leisure Attendant (Part-Time): Dundee Cycle Hub

Based in Dundee with flexibility to work across our Angus sites where required

£13.45 p/h – 4x roles starting from 6hrs to 10.5hrs p/w with the opportunity for additional shifts in the near future

Overview

The Leisure Attendant role based at the Dundee Cycle Hub Bike Skills Park is responsible for supporting the daily operation of an indoor cycling and wheeled sports facility designed for public use.

The Bike Skills Park provides a safe, inclusive, and supervised indoor environment where children, young people, families, schools, community groups, and adult riders can develop confidence and cycling skills using ramps, obstacles, pump tracks, and mountain bike/BMX-style features. The facility caters to beginners through to experienced riders and promotes active travel, physical activity, and community participation.

The role revolves around active front-of-house supervision, customer support, cycle skills park supervision, equipment handovers, membership processing, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout the venue. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a welcoming and positive experience for all visitors while ensuring operational and safety procedures are followed at all times.

All candidates must be willing and able to undertake a Disclosure Scotland PVG check alongside a first aid qualification training course if successful.

Main Duties

The Leisure Attendant will be responsible for the following duties:

Facility Setup & Equipment Management: Lead the daily setup, take down, and secure storage of bike park equipment, including hire bikes, helmets, and track features. Ensure all hire fleet equipment is safely prepared for customer use.

Front of House & Administration: Act as the main point of contact at the trackside, managing participant check-ins, processing bike park memberships, and supporting customers with bike and safety gear hire options.

Safety & Track Supervision: Monitor the safety and behavior of all participants (including adults, youths, children, and groups) to prevent injuries, enforce track rules, and maintain a safe environment.

Session Delivery & Timelines: Manage and execute a clear session delivery timeline, ensuring tracks open and close punctually and transitions between booked groups run smoothly.

Cleanliness & Hygiene: Maintain an excellent standard of cleanliness throughout all designated internal and external areas of the facility daily, including deep-cleaning responsibilities for the track infrastructure and on-site toilets.

Atmosphere & Engagement: Deliver a fun, positive, and highly engaging atmosphere when the bike park is live, actively encouraging and supporting participants of all skill levels.

Compliance & Safeguarding: Strictly comply with Health & Safety policies, standard operating procedures, and Child Protection guidelines to ensure customer welfare.

Reporting & Documentation: Perform operational paperwork including hourly safety checks, cleaning schedules, and the formal logging of any track faults or broken equipment.

Cross-Site Flexibility: Work collaboratively within the wider team and maintain the flexibility to travel and work across various Angus-based sites as required by the demands of the service.

Retail Support: When required be able to process sales through Dundee Cycle Hub bike shop as part of the DCH team including bike sales, accessory & part sales, snacks, and servicing bookings.

Daily session timelines run efficiently with minimal disruptions, maximizing track capacity and customer satisfaction.

Equipment, hire fleets, and safety gear are maintained to a high standard, with faults reported and resolved promptly.

High standards of hygiene are upheld daily across all areas, including track zones and public toilets.

Teams operate adaptively and flexibly across regional locations to counter operational challenges and support local community engagement.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Minimum of 2x National 5 qualifications or equivalent

Willingness to undertake Disclosure Scotland PVG check

Current First Aid Certificate

Cycling-related coaching or instructional qualification (e.g., Cycling Scotland / British Cycling)

Experience / Knowledge

Demonstrate a high level of customer service

Experience implementing standard operating procedures and health and safety compliance

Capacity to be flexible and versatile

Experience of working in a fast-paced customer-facing environment

Experience working with diverse communities, children, families, and youth groups

Experience of working in a retail environment

Excellent level of retail sales training and/or experience

IT, Electronic Point of Sale experience (e.g., Square, Google Workspace)

Knowledge of COSSH and RIDDOR

Skills
