A Junior Facilities Manager supports senior management in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant day-to-day operation of commercial properties.
The role involves overseeing daily maintenance, coordinating contractors and suppliers, supporting health and safety procedures, and helping to maintain a high level of tenant satisfaction.
Core Responsibilities
Maintenance & Operations
- Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks using CAFM systems.
- Coordinate routine checks of key building services, including HVAC, fire alarms, power, and water systems.
- Carry out regular property inspections to identify and resolve maintenance issues early.
- Ensure statutory compliance and support adherence to UK health and safety regulations across assigned sites.
- Assist with fire risk assessments, emergency response plans, and evacuation drills.
- Review contractor risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and issue work permits where required.
- Monitor contractor and supplier performance to ensure good service delivery and cost efficiency.
- Raise purchase orders, review supplier quotes, and process invoices.
Tenant & Stakeholder Relations
- Act as a key point of contact for tenant queries and provide a high standard of customer service.
- Communicate effectively with property managers, front-of-house teams, contractors, and external stakeholders such as local councils and fire services.
Key Requirements & Skills
- Experience: Typically 1-3 years experience in facilities, property administration, or building operations.
- Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems, as well as general building operations.
- Compliance: Working knowledge of UK health and safety regulations.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving ability, clear verbal and written communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks across multiple sites.
This is an entry-to-mid level role with a clear progression pathway into a full Facilities Manager position over time.
Salary: £30,000-£35,000 per annum, depending on experience.
