Kitchen and Domestic Assistant

Location: Woodlands Day Nursery (83 place setting) | Downs Barn, Milton Keynes | MK14 7QE.

Contract: Permanent | 20 hours/week | 52 weeks/year.

Working pattern: Varied shifts between 07:30-18:30 Monday-Thursday, plus a full day shift of 08:30-17:30 on Fridays.

Salary: £12.87 per hour.

About the role

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about preparing wholesome, healthy meals. You will contribute towards the preparation of a range of meals from a set-menu, using fresh ingredients.

Requirements:

  • Professional catering experience to support meal preparation.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, allergens and manual handling; experience in a professional kitchen.
  • Ability to maintain 5‑star hygiene standards and uphold a safe environment while performing domestic duties such as re‑stocking supplies in bathrooms and kitchens, emptying bins, sweeping, mopping floors, high‑level dusting, and handling laundry.
  • Advocacy for safeguarding and ensuring the well‑being and dietary needs of every child.
  • Collaboration skills to build respectful relationships with colleagues, children and parents, promote healthy eating, and take full responsibility for all food preparation and cooking tasks in the absence of the Nursery Cook.
