About this Role
You will work with children who have a range of significant and often complex SEND, for example those with autism, social, emotional and mental health difficulties, genetic disorders, health conditions, communication or mobility challenges and in some instances pupils who exhibit challenging behaviour.
Responsibilities
- Complement the work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision.
- Monitor pupils and assess, record and report on pupils’ achievement, progress and development as agreed with the teacher.
- Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals, small groups or short-term whole classes.
- Manage and develop a specialist area within the school, including completing training and support for pupils with medical interventions.
Qualifications & Requirements
The successful applicant must be:
- Willing to complete training, including support for pupils with medical interventions.
- Able to undertake an enhanced DBS check, including the barred list.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, following the school’s Safeguarding Policy.
Location
The role is based at George Hastwell School on Walney Island, Barrow in Furness, England.
