A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Haringey is seeking a mature, resilient, and highly experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.

This rewarding role will involve providing tailored 1:1 support for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), alongside delivering targeted interventions to support pupils’ academic, social, and communication development.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual targets.

Morning Responsibilities

Sessions 1 & 2

  • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with an EHCP.
  • Support language development and learning needs associated with dyslexia.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to maximise engagement and progress.

Session 3

  • Support a Year 3 pupil with an EHCP and a range of additional needs, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Noonan syndrome, speech and language difficulties, and dyspraxia.
  • Implement personalised strategies to support learning, communication, and emotional regulation.

Afternoon Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted intervention programmes to support academic progress, communication skills, and social development.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff to inform future planning and support.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Promote engagement, confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work effectively alongside class teachers, the SENDCo, and external professionals.
  • Use strong behaviour management strategies to support pupils with complex needs.
  • Work confidently and independently on a 1:1 basis.
