Learning Support Assistant

Leader Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a welcoming and supportive SEND school in Bedale. This opportunity is especially suited to Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies, Health & Social Care, or related graduates who are looking to gain meaningful experience working with children and young people with additional needs.

The Role

  • Full‑time, long‑term opportunity following a successful trial
  • Monday–Friday | 8:30am–3:30pm

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils in the classroom and during daily activities
  • Help students build confidence, communication, and independence
  • Work closely with teachers and specialist staff
  • Gain practical experience supporting children with additional needs
  • Develop transferable skills highly valued in psychology and education careers

This Role Would Suit You If You:

  • Are a recent or upcoming graduate in Psychology, Education, or a related field
  • Want to gain school‑based experience before further study or teacher training
  • Have an interest in SEND, mental health, child development, or behaviour support
  • Are compassionate, patient, and adaptable
  • Enjoy building positive relationships with children and young people
  • Are willing to learn safeguarding and behaviour‑support strategies
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS or are willing to obtain one

Previous experience is helpful but not essential — enthusiasm, empathy, and a willingness to learn are what matter most.
