Overview
Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) is a global financial services firm. We are looking for a Counsel to support our Investor Services line and other business lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal support for BBH’s fund administration, transfer agency, custodian/depositary businesses for UCITS, AIFMD and other funds across Europe.
- Assist BBH’s Treasury Department with cash management, interest rate swaps, liquidity activities and review settlement and swap execution arrangements.
- Support BBH’s FinTech line in designing, launching services and products in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Deliver pragmatic legal and regulatory advice, ensure compliance and minimise risk.
- Monitor regulatory developments (funding, banking) and support implementation projects.
- Engage in industry bodies and peer‑networking forums.
- Instruct, manage and coordinate external counsel and synthesize their advice.
- Develop and deliver formal training on key legal and documentary standards.
- Foster knowledge sharing and innovation within the legal team.
Qualifications
- Admitted as a barrister or solicitor in England and Wales.
- Excellent knowledge of capital markets activities of banks and brokers.
- Knowledge of CFTC statutes, rules and regulations is helpful.
- Knowledge of UCITS, AIFMD and other fund structures advantageous.
- Prior experience on or supporting trading desks and related businesses.
- Ability to negotiate complex agreements to completion.
- Prioritisation, initiative and project delivery skills.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong sense of business and legal ethics.
