The Role: Head of Litigation
As Head of Litigation, you will lead a small but busy litigation team. You’ll manage a varied caseload while playing a central role in growing and shaping the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the litigation/disputes department
- Manage a broad caseload including:
- Civil litigation and small claims
- Settlement agreements
- Property disputes
- Occasional higher‑value/complex disputes
- Contentious probate matters (as required)
- Provide early‑stage commercial dispute advice and strategy
- Convert enquiries into fee‑paying work
- Build relationships with internal teams to maximise cross‑referrals
- Undertake networking and business development activity
- Supervise and support junior team members, including a trainee
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Solicitor with strong litigation/disputes experience
- Proven ability (or readiness) to lead a department
- Broad skillset across civil and commercial disputes
- Commercial awareness with the ability to convert enquiries into revenue
- Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills
- Interest in business development and growing a practice
- Ideally based locally or within commuting distance
