Overview
This is a substantive paediatric respiratory consultant post. The role is permanent, part‑time (28 hours per week) and based at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People. It is currently funded for 7 paediatric attendings but opportunities to take on additional paediatric attendings will arise.
Department
The department delivers tertiary respiratory care to children in NHS Lothian and by agreement in other health boards across Scotland.
Responsibilities
- Provide paediatric respiratory clinical services.
- Deliver tertiary respiratory care to children.
- Participate in a dedicated on‑call respiratory rota, expected to commence later in 2026, with a planned 1 in 6 contribution.
Qualifications
- Full GMC registration, a license to practice, and eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
- For UK‑trained doctors: evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview.
- Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) route doctors are eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded.
- Non‑UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
