Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician
Job Overview: The successful applicant will work across all areas of our busy pharmacy department in both acute and specialty settings, supporting a team of over 450 staff. This fixed‑term apprenticeship runs for 24 months, providing competency development, a qualification, and potential employment with us.
You will complete the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians through a day‑release program with Bradford College, together with virtual classroom sessions and a portfolio of evidence required by the apprenticeship framework.
Main Duties
- Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medicines under the direction of registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Work within multidisciplinary teams, maintaining confidentiality, a safe working environment, and safeguarding patients.
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork, communication, and error‑free medicine handling.
- Recognise personal limitations and seek support when required.

Qualifications and Experience
Education and Qualifications
- 3 GCSEs – Grade 4/C or above in Maths, English, and another subject or equivalent qualifications.
- GCSE Science Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent BTEC Level 2 certificate in the principles and practice for pharmacy assistants, plus relevant experience.
Experience & Knowledge
- UK, EEA, or EU residency for the past three years.
- Previous experience in a hospital or community pharmacy.
- Experience in a learning environment.
- Awareness of health and safety/risk management issues.
Skills & Abilities
