Health Care Assistant in Lymphoedema

Bay Lymphology, part of Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative, is looking for a Health Care Assistant to support our Lymphoedema service in Kendal. The role is part‑time: 24 hours per week, 3 days Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing knowledge and understanding of lymphoedema.
- Managing the caseload and providing patient‑centred care (skin‑care advice, simple lymphatic drainage, compression bandaging, manual drainage, fitting compression garments).
- Working with Lymphoedema Practitioners to implement care plans and assess progress.
- Reporting escalated concerns to senior colleagues and collaborating with the wider team.
- Participating in research, audits, and awareness campaigns.
- Ensuring infection prevention, health and safety, and contributing to service evaluation.
Personal qualities:
- Hands‑on clinical skills and flexibility to cover all areas of the service.
- Responsible and reliable attitude towards daily service management.
- Supports integrated working across health and social care boundaries.
Experience and training:
- Willing to undertake specific training in therapeutic treatments for lymphoedema management.
- Experience in lymphoedema management, tissue viability, palliative care, and community settings.
Qualifications:
- GCSEs or equivalent in English and maths.
- Computer literacy; NVQ/BTEC in Health and Social Care.
Disclosure & Barring Service checks will be required as the role involves access to vulnerable adults and/or children. The position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
