Press Brake Operative

Location: Derby

Salary: £31,000 – £33,900 shift allowance

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

Shifts: Rotating early and late shifts

About the Role

We are working with a well‑established and growing precision manufacturing business operating in a highly regulated environment. They are looking for a skilled Press Brake Operative to join their production team.

This role offers variety, combining press brake and power press operations with opportunities to support across multiple manufacturing processes. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys a hands‑on role within a fast‑paced production setting.

Key Responsibilities

Press Brake & Press Operations

  • Operate press brake and power press machinery in line with work instructions
  • Set up tooling, dies, and adjust machine parameters as required
  • Interpret engineering drawings, job cards, and specifications accurately
  • Carry out first‑off and in‑process inspection checks
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenanceIdentify and report faults, defects, or non‑conformance issues

Multi‑Process Manufacturing Support

  • Support additional processes such as paint, degreasing, and spray applications
  • Follow detailed process instructions and quality standards
  • Ensure correct handling and traceability of components
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records
  • Provide cover across other manufacturing areas when required

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain high quality standards at all times
  • Identify and elevate non‑conforming products or processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and 5S initiatives

About You

  • Previous experience as a Press Brake Operative or similar manufacturing role
  • Experience with power press machinery is highly desirable
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Strong attention to detail and quality‑driven approach
  • Flexible and adaptable across multiple production processes
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills

Desirable

  • Experience within aerospace or precision engineering
  • Familiarity with surface treatment or finishing processes

Working Hours

Two‑shift rotation:

  • Early Shift: Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 2:00pm, Friday 6:00am – 1:00pm
  • Late Shift: Monday – Thursday 2:00pm – 10:00pm, Friday 9:00am – 4:00pm
