Production Technician – Bournemouth (full‑time, permanent)
Salary: £27,000 – £33,000 per annum (plus benefits)
About The Role
Operate complex water treatment sites, ensuring potable water quality standards are met and production demands are fulfilled. Provide standby cover out of hours as part of an operational rota, maintain site equipment, and support the asset performance team.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with the control room in accordance with operational procedures.
- Store, handle and use chemicals safely and efficiently, including the use of breathing apparatus.
- Carry out operational maintenance on equipment and instrumentation as per work schedules.
- Take water‑quality samples and conduct on‑site analyses.
- Record water‑quality and operational procedures in logs and log sheets.
- Perform routine and non‑routine duties such as grounds maintenance, river/intake maintenance, security checks, reservoir and tank cleaning.
- Report abnormal events to the Resources & Production Area Manager/Duty Manager.
- Execute automated maintenance tasks scheduled for the team.
- Work with the asset performance team to ensure reliable, optimum performance of site equipment.
- Provide standby cover and work flexibly (including evenings, weekends and standby rotation).
- Work comfortably at heights and in confined spaces, with appropriate training provided.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grades A‑C in Maths and English.
- NVQ Level 2 in Operating Process Plant or willingness to work towards it.
- Full UK driver’s licence.
- Experience in water treatment or other relevant process.
- Proficiency with SCADA and standard software packages (email, Word, Excel, PDA devices).
- Knowledge of COSHH, lonely working procedures, and basic first aid.
- Administrative skills – site logs, diary, task sheets, work orders, stock records, GRNs.
- Alarm response and interpretation, understanding of priorities.
- Strong communication skills to build relationships at all levels.
- Excellent organisational skills and adaptability.
- Experience driving company vehicles; 4WD, forklift, tractor/trailer as required.
- Self‑motivated and committed to high‑pressure environments.
- Flexible working approach, including evenings, weekends, standby rotation and call‑outs.
