As Senior Accounts Assistant – Finance Operations, you will support the Finance Operations Manager by being the first point of escalation for queries from the AR/AP team. You will work with other finance team members to keep financial transactions and processes in line with company and regulatory requirements. You must have a keen eye for detail, focus on quality and timeliness, and adapt to ever‑changing business needs.
Responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day transactional finance activities: accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal postings, and billing processes.
- Act as first point of contact for AR/AP queries, providing guidance, resolving issues, and supporting team members with training.
- Lead accurate and timely invoicing and reconciliation activities, working closely with operational teams.
- Support finance operations through KPI delivery, audit preparation, policy compliance, and maintenance of accurate financial records.
- Identify and implement process improvements, including use of AI and automation tools, to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop strong expertise in Sage Intacct and associated finance systems, and provide cross‑department support when required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a transactional finance environment, with exposure to AP/AR, reconciliations, and finance operations.
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills; able to investigate discrepancies and deliver accurate information.
- Confident communicator who can build relationships across departments and explain financial information to non‑finance stakeholders.
- Good understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and compliance requirements; proactive and organised.
- Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, lookups, data manipulation) and experience with accounting systems and finance software.
- Enthusiastic about continuous improvement, process efficiency, and the use of AI and emerging technologies.
- Able to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively within a team, and maintain accurate process documentation.
