Wastewater Maintenance Technician

Overview

Join our team to protect the environment through the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of water recycling assets, including equipment at water treatment works. You will carry out general repairs, investigate and rectify faults, and complete scheduled maintenance to ensure asset reliability.

Location and Working Hours

Covering Letchworth, Royston, Biggleswade and surrounding areas. Permanent full‑time, with flexibility for part‑time, 37 hours per week, 5‑day working pattern including some weekends.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary (plus standby & overtime):

  • £39,520 for NVQ Level3 (or equivalent in Mechanical/Engineering) – up to £47,840 with progression and experience.
  • £35,360 for NVQ Level2 (or equivalent in Mechanical/Engineering).

All PPE, tools and fuel card provided.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general repairs, investigate and rectify faults.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance to ensure reliability of assets.
  • Operate and maintain water recycling equipment, including those at treatment works.
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical assets.
  • Use mechanical control systems, telemetry, pumps, gearboxes and mechanical/electrical plant maintenance.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level2 or 3 (mechanical/engineering) qualification or equivalent.
  • Relevant work experience or completed apprenticeship.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience working with mechanical control systems, telemetry, pumps, gearboxes and mechanical/electrical plant maintenance is advantageous.
