Job Overview

North Wales GP Out of Hours East Division invites applications for part‑time Drivers. Minimum 15 hours per month with shifts covering evenings, weekends, overnights and Bank Holidays. Hours are flexible and enhanced rates of pay apply for all hours worked during the out‑of‑hours period.

Main Duties

  • Safely transport General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners to home‑based patients and assist with treatment centre consultations.
  • Communicate with the call centre, relay accurate clinical and non‑clinical information to the GP.
  • Ensure vehicle roadworthy and contains equipment and drug boxes for home visits.
  • Support other Out of Hours team and clinicians with call dispatching and contacting patients to book appointments when not driving, ensuring smooth service.
  • Welsh speaking desirable but either Welsh or English speakers welcome.

Qualifications

  • Good standard of general education
  • Clean category B driving licence

Desirable Qualifications

  • ECDL
  • Advanced Driving Qualification
  • Basic First Aid certificate

Experience

  • Experienced driver
  • Experience in customer care / dealing with general public
  • Experience working within a team

Desirable Experience

  • Previous employment in a patient transport service

Knowledge

  • Understanding of OOH service and how it relates to the NHS
  • In‑depth knowledge of local geographical area and ability to read maps
  • Willingness to learn call handling and Adastra software usage
  • Willing to learn basic life support skills

Desirable Knowledge

  • Awareness of relevant policies, procedures and working practices

Skills

  • IT literate
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to deal with patients in a caring manner
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality

Desirable Skills

  • Welsh speaking
