Salary: £39,000 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am – 4.30pm

Contract: Permanent | Term Time

About the Role

Do you have a passion for Science and a desire to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people? At The Shires – Oakham, we’re looking for an exceptional Secondary Science Teacher to inspire, engage and empower pupils with Autism and additional needs to achieve their full potential.

As a Secondary Science Teacher, you’ll deliver engaging, personalised and innovative Science lessons that bring learning to life.

Working closely with colleagues, therapists and families, you’ll support pupils to develop academically, socially and emotionally while creating a positive and autism-friendly learning environment where every child can flourish.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the Science curriculum, supporting whole-school improvement and helping pupils develop confidence, independence and a love for learning.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering engaging and differentiated Science lessons that inspire curiosity and achievement
  • Supporting pupils with Autism and additional needs to access and enjoy learning
  • Monitoring, assessing and reporting on pupil progress and attainment
  • Contributing to the development and innovation of the Science curriculum
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and families
  • Using autism‑specific teaching strategies to maximise engagement and success
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
  • Supporting whole-school improvement and contributing to outstanding pupil outcomes

About You

  • Qualified with a Degree and UK QTS
  • Passionate about Science and inspiring young minds
  • Experienced in working with pupils with Autism, SEN or complex needs
  • Creative, adaptable and committed to delivering engaging lessons
  • An excellent communicator who builds strong relationships with pupils, colleagues and families
  • Calm, resilient and positive when faced with challenges
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Motivated to continually develop their skills and professional practice
