Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Hulme – Prospero Teaching

Full‑time, full‑year positions available.

Start Date: September 2026 – End Date: July 2027.

Minimum Rate of Pay: GBP100/day (PAYE).

Prospero Teaching is recruiting for a number of Graduate SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across the curriculum at a SEMH secondary school in Hulme. This role is perfect for a motivated graduate looking to kick‑start their career in education, psychology, or child development.

You’ll work with SEN students who may have needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, dyslexia, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), and social or communication challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience supporting pupils who benefit from additional structure, patience, and tailored learning strategies.

You’ll gain invaluable classroom experience, develop key behaviour management skills, and build confidence working with students with additional needs – all the while making a meaningful difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 support or small group interventions for students with SEN
  • Assisting in delivering tailored learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Supporting students with literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
  • Helping manage behaviour and engagement in a positive, proactive way
  • Building strong, supportive relationships with pupils to boost confidence and independence
  • Supporting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management

About You

  • Psychology Degree
  • Strong interest in working with children with SEN / SEND
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Experience with children (voluntary, coaching, tutoring, care work) is advantageous
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references
