HGV Class 1 Drivers

Location: Corby

Pay: £18.00 Days / £19.50 Nights / £21 Sat / £22 Sun

The Role

Average shift length: 10–12 hours 7‑day operation

Working week runs: Sunday to Saturday

Shift times:

• AM shifts: typically start between 05:00–07:00
• PM shifts: typically start between 13:00–19:00

Delivery area spans:

• North: Manchester/Wakefield/Scunthorpe/Preston – Usually night drivers
• West: South Wales
• South: London (Outer)

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a mixture of products such as crisps, spices, glass jars and cleaning products
• Ensure the load is strapped securely, depending on the product
• Occasionally use a pump truck to unload for certain sites
• Most sites have no handballing involved
• Safely operate and drive HGV 1 (C E) vehicles to transport goods to designated locations
• Plan routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections to ensure road worthiness
• Adhere to all relevant traffic laws and regulations
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and logistics team members
• Shifts are booked daily with shift confirmation times texted to you the day before
• No driving assessment on site, but paperwork must be completed before the first shift

Requirements

• Valid HGV 1 C E licence
• Up‑to‑date Tacho Digi Card and an up‑to‑date DCPC Card
• Minimum 12 months HGV Class 1 C E experience
• Strong understanding of road safety regulations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Accept up to 6 points on your licence, but no DD, TT, DR, CD, IN endorsements
